Campus speech codes are stopping real debate -- and inspire a new book
Here’s another piece on campus speech codes, with
some discussion of the work of Greg Lukianoff, president of the Foundation for
Equal Rights in Education and author of “Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship
and the End of American Debate”, from Encounter Books (2012).
There are all kinds of anecdotes, such as a censure
at Fordham University for inviting Anne Coulter to speak, and a ban on showing
the Danish cartoons insulting the Prophet Mohammed at an event at New York
University.
The piece in the Wall Street Journal, by Sohran
Ahmari, Saturday November 17 2012, “How free speech died on campus”, is here.
